Birthdays and Bike tour
Ok, My technical difficulties persist and it is midnight now and the internet is finally functioning, for now. I still am without pictures for the blog because of incompatibility issues but the trip goes on! Today we woke up early to make our bike tour. But this was not any other day, it was Caroline's Birthday! So we set off for a morning pastry and coffee and made or subway nt to town to start Mike's Bike Tour. Our guide was an Australian name James who did an excellent job of explaining German history and keeping us laughing. We had concerns that some of our group, who had not been on a bike much, would be in the danger zone. It turned out that they did great. (Well it actually turned out that other students in the group who shall not also be named, were in worse biking shape that the one we were worried about!) We saw many places that related to World War 2 and especially the Nazi resistance. It was very interesting. After the tour we went to the Residenzplatz which was the palace of all the German Monarchs. The students were impressed most by the sheer opulence of royal life. Every room in the palace seemed like it had a another room dedicated to the second one. I was an endless amount of rooms and gold leaf. We also saw the crown jewels of Germany and were blown away by the attention to detail and beauty. We sang happy birthday to Caroline on the bike trip.We ended our evening at the world famous hofbrau haus where a few students even tried the alcohol free beer. For the record, Trevor and Camille found little taste for it where Chris, Dustin, and Tanner found it "Smooth" (Tanner went for seconds). I would not let them take my picture with them and the fake beer. I could only see the facebook photos!! It was a great night and the German Polka band played us out for our journey home. I am sorry this is not more detailed because it took me a long time to get consistent internet and I have to go to bed for tomorrow's early rise for the Castle tours. I willl try to get more tomorrow and hopefully pictures!
